FLOAT PLANE RATING
Canadian Flyers offers professional instruction on many levels out of our school based in the GTA (Markham).
We also offer float plane training at our Orilla base (click relevant menu items for more information)
Both Markham (CNU8) and Orillia (CNJ4) airports are uncontrolled with a UNICOM.
This a great advantage for students for the following reasons:
The Markham airport is located about 23 NM North-East of Toronto Pearson Airport which means we are allowed to climb higher altitudes sooner for our flight exercises (within 5 minutes from our airport).
Students will become more professional by communicating and separating from other aircraft nearby without the need of having a Tower Controller.
Markham Airport is private (PPR) and the traffic is mainly our flight training aircraft, This avoids delays and wasted training costs by not having to wait at the threshold for take off.
The runway is 2000 feet so students become familiar with shorter runways which will help them have confidence to land/takeoff at any other short/grass runways around the world.
We have a large fleet of Cessna 172's available for rent or training. For our multi engine rating we use a Piper Seminole
We have our own simulator training centre providing full three axis motion. The centre is staffed by our own instructors and utilizes a Redbird FMX simulator
